There are so many CBD extract and oil products on the market, it’s easy to get lost in the search and confused by the possible benefits of each. Thankfully, Highland Pharms knows quality and are dedicated to cultivating products that are natural. We believe their raw CBD extract is the purest form available.
When we use the term ‘raw’, this references the fact that no chemicals—such as alcohols or solvents—have been used, nor has heat been applied in the extraction and manufacturing process of the CBD. This is really important because distillation is a very common method of CBD extraction, due to its relative ease and scalability. However, it changes the chemical make-up of CBD.
Why raw CBD extract?
Raw CBD extract typically contains over 400 trace compounds—half of which are terpenes. It also includes well over 100 cannabinoids. Most of these compounds have been tested and studied for the effects that they have in the body’s endocannabinoid system. But when solvents or high levels of heat are applied, the chemical make-up of the extract changes and most of the trace compounds that live within it extract are exposed to damage or potential destruction. On the contrary, extracting CBD using the supercritical CO2 method ensures these cannabinoids and compounds remain organic and intact, just the way they should be.
Raw extract is believed to be helpful for many physical conditions, whereas CBD products such as gummies or tinctures are more favored for their supposed calming effect which may ease stressful conditions in the body. (1)
With all this being said, it’s important to understand that distillation extraction methods are favored by some suppliers as they remove certain chemical compounds—such as THC, a psychoactive compound—from the final product. Legally, CBD products must be derived from hemp and contain less than 0.3% THC, so this compound does not have to be removed from the extract since it is below legal limits and is so low that it does not cause any type of psychoactive effect.
Potential benefits of raw CBD extract
The scientific community is slowly catching on to the beneficial effects that raw CBD extract may have on the body and many companies are working towards harnessing that potency to maximize the compound’s efficacy. Due to its broad therapeutic and wellness possibilities, cannabidiol has been at the forefront of much clinical and medical research. It is believed that CBDA—the precursor to CBD—and CBD do work together and may amplify each other’s potential impact. The research around this combination with CBD oil and its health benefits is still underway, but early studies are looking promising. (2) (3)
Like the rest of the Highland Pharms range, the extracts we sell are premium and pure. CBD extracts offered by other companies that use heat extraction methods may have many beneficial compounds, but it’s likely that their quantity and potency has been stripped away or lessened. Highland Pharms manufactures their full-spectrum CBD extracts using the CO2 extraction method to preserve as many of the beneficial compounds as possible.
The raw extracts come in either 1g, 10g or 30g jars; or, you can choose 1g or 10g syringes. Some people like the mess-free application of using a syringe, while others find jars more convenient. Whatever your choice, the quality remains the same.

What dosage of CBD extract should I take?
There is no clear-cut answer to question; every person’s body chemistry is unique. This FAQ page on Highland Pharms’ website goes into more detail regarding CBD products and doses. Use this as a guide and conduct thorough research before making a purchase to ensure your decision is suitable. Most people find that discovering the perfect dose of CBD is a case of trial and error.
After determining determined how many milligrams of CBD you wish to try, you can calculate the number of servings per package by dividing the total milligrams in a product by the milligrams you want per serving. The most affordable cost per serving is available from packages with greater amounts of servings.
How often should I take CBD extract?
Much like dosage, the frequency with which to take CBD extract varies. We suggest starting with a twice-daily dosage—once in the morning and once in the evening—then adjusting after a few days to a schedule that works for you.
Does CBD extract work better than other forms, like capsules, drops, and vape liquids?
All Highland Pharms CBD products include same hemp extract—a full-spectrum substance including CBD and countless other cannabinoids and phytonutrients that are often absent in CBD isolate form. Most people find similar results across our entire product offering, as they all contain the same high-quality main ingredient. However, as everyone’s physiology is unique, individual experiences may differ in terms of results and possible side effects.
Is CBD extract legal where I live?
After the 2018 Farm Bill was signed into law in the United States, hemp and all of its derivatives from the cannabis plant containing less than 0.3% THC on a dry-weight basis are now legal under federal regulations. All Highland Pharms products contain CBD from hemp with THC levels below 0.3%, and abide by all other applicable laws. Therefore, the products we sell are legal for sale across the United States and many parts of the globe. (4)
We advise you to check your individual state and/or country’s CBD regulations before purchasing CBD.

Does CBD taste good?
CBD has an acquired taste, that’s for sure. Some find it unappealing, but it’s not designed nor touted for its flavor. Consider edibles, gummies, tinctures or topicals if you struggle with the taste of CBD.
Is Highland Pharms CBD extract made with CBD isolate or whole plant extract?
All Highland Pharms CBD extracts are made with full-spectrum CBD, so they also contain many cannabinoids and phytonutrients found naturally in the cannabis sativa plant. The CO2 oil extraction process they use keeps all of the natural chemical compounds intact.
