About CBD for Pets

Does your dog howl when you leave the house, or tremble at the sound of fireworks? Household animals suffer from similar ailments to humans. Now, your pets can benefit from the same health alternatives as you, too! We’re proud to offer top-of-the-line CBD products for your furry friends, so you can gently push them towards relaxation, and keep their bodies happy and healthy.

Highland Pharms believes in creating the best alternative health products—period. They don’t discriminate between two legs and four. That’s why they include the same premium full-spectrum CBD extract in all of their pet products. The whole CBD animal range, from dog treats to tinctures, is made from non-GMO hemp plants grown on American soil. They’re also pesticide free and full of phytonutrients, terpenes, and many more beneficial ingredients.

Full-spectrum CBD

If you’ve explored our website, you’ve likely come across the term “full-spectrum CBD.” But you may be wondering what it means and why it’s so important for you and your pets. Essentially, CBD is thought to be potent on its own, but most effective in conjunction with other cannabinoids such as cannabigerol (CBG), cannabichromen (CBC), and cannabinol (CBN). These are found in all Highland Pharm full-spectrum hemp extracts to some degree.

Just like you, we love our pets and want to ensure the safety of your four-legged friends. We include the same full-spectrum CBD in our pet products to give you peace of mind. The only difference is that the concentration levels have been adjusted to suit the needs of animals. (1)

CBD for dogs

Studies surrounding the efficacy of CBD as a remedy for anxious pets and other specific health conditions are ongoing. However, many pet owners are turning to CBD in the hopes of helping to soothe their pet’s stress related to separation or general unease. There have also been studies conducted on the effect CBD may have against pain related issues in dogs. (2)

While we’re unable to guarantee positive results from pet CBD usage, the current research looks promising and has yet to uncover any serious, adverse effects. CBD’s potential benefits are just some of the reasons why pet owners are looking towards this natural alternative to pharmaceuticals. (3)

CBD for cats

If you suspect your cat may struggle with various conditions, you may be seeking an alternative treatment option. Both Pet Treats+ and Paws+ drops are suitable for cat consumption and contain safe levels of CBD. The treats are good for cats to snack on, but the tinctures allow for a more accurate way to monitor your feline’s CBD consumption.

Since cats are small pets, we would recommend starting your cat out with Paws+ drops or even small serving of Treats+ and adjust as you go to ensure your pet is on the road to a healthier way of living.

If your pet has any existing health issues or concerns, speak to your veterinarian before administering CBD. In all areas, when it comes to your pet, seeking professional advice and guidance is always recommended. If you want to know more about how CBD can help your pet, conduct thorough research and ask your veterinarian for any recommendations they might have.

CBD for Pets FAQs

Is pet CBD legal in my state?

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp and any of its derivatives which contain less than 0.3% THC on a dry-weight basis in the United States. As such, we ensure that our partner, Highland Pharms, utilizes extracts from hemp with THC levels less than 0.3%, and abides by all other relevant laws. Highland Pharms CBD products can be legally purchased across the U.S. and in many countries around the world. However, we recommend you check your individual state and/or country’s CBD regulations before buying. (4) (45)

What is CBD oil for dogs and other pets?

Dogs can access the same wellness benefits as humans when using our hemp products—and other animals will enjoy them too! The CBD oil that can be given to dogs and other pets is the same as that which is used in human products. The Pet Treats+ make ideal snacks for small-to-medium size dogs and cats, while our PAWS+ oil drops are suitable for other small pets to try in lower doses.

What are the benefits of CBD oil for dogs?

There are many reasons why pet owners may consider giving CBD to their pets, such as anxiety, aggression and other health issues. While investigation in the benefits of CBD in pets is still ongoing, some owners report their dogs are more relaxed and less stressed after they’ve had CBD. Read reviews from our customers to get a feel for how you can use hemp oils to improve the wellness of your furry friends.

How much CBD oil should I give my dog?

Your dog’s metabolism and size will affect the amount of CBD needed to yield the desired results. All dog breeds are different, so it’s wise to start with a relatively small serving and monitor their response carefully. If they seem to be tolerating the CBD, you can increase the serving size. However, this should be done gradually to make sure they display no negative side effects. If you're ever unsure, seek a veterinarian's assistance.

What is CBD oil for cats?

Pet Treats+ and PAWS+ drops are designed with cats in mind. However, if you’re seeking a way to give your cat a more measured dose of CBD, tinctures can be added to your feline’s diet.

What is the best CBD oil for cats?

The cannabinoids used in Highland Pharms’ pet and human oils are the same; the difference is that their pet products feature lower concentrations to accommodate the needs of animals. Since cats are small pets, it’s generally best to begin with PAWS+ drops or small servings of Pet Treats+ snacks to start them off on the path to better wellness.

How much CBD oil should I give my cat?

Your cat’s body weight, breed and metabolism will determine the amount of CBD needed for them to reap any benefits. Since most cats are small and have a relatively slow metabolism, it's best to start with ½–1 milligram of hemp oil per serving and monitor their reaction. You can increase this dosage over time if it seems well received, but make sure to do so in small increments over several days. Pay attention to their behavior and make sure they react positively. Discontinue use and speak to a veterinarian if you have any doubts about your cat’s health.

What is the best CBD oil for pets?

All Highland Pharms CBD products include the same full-spectrum hemp extract, so they're perfect for both people and pets. If you have a large animal that weighs the same or more than your average person, they may be better suited to a “human” formulation, as there's the main difference is the CBD concentration.

Are CBD treats more effective than drops?

All pets process and metabolize food differently, so there is no simple answer to this question. Highland Pharms uses the same hemp extract across their product range, so the effectiveness of each product is generally similar.
